Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Docmaid ("we", "our", or "us") is a web application that converts Markdown documents into formatted Google Docs. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive the following data from Google's OAuth service:

  • Google Account Email — used to identify your account and communicate with you.
  • Display Name & Profile Picture — displayed in the app UI.
  • OAuth Access Token & Refresh Token — stored securely in our database to allow Docmaid to create and write to Google Docs on your behalf without requiring you to re-authenticate every session.

We do not store the Markdown content you paste into Docmaid. Your documents are created directly in your Google Drive via the Google Docs API and are never written to our servers.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To authenticate you via Google OAuth and maintain your session.
  • To create Google Docs in your Google Drive using the Google Docs API (auth/documents scope).
  • To access and manage the Drive files created by Docmaid (auth/drive.file scope — limited to files our app creates).
  • To improve the application through anonymized analytics (if Google Analytics is enabled).

4. Google API Scopes

Docmaid uses the following Google OAuth scopes:

ScopePurpose
openid, email, profileBasic identity for sign-in
auth/documentsCreate and format new Google Docs from your Markdown
auth/drive.fileAccess only the Drive files that Docmaid creates (not your entire Drive)

We request the minimum scopes necessary. The drive.file scope only grants access to files created by Docmaid — we cannot read or modify any other files in your Google Drive.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Account information and OAuth tokens are stored in a secure PostgreSQL database (Neon).
  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except as required by law.
  • OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest and are only used to make Google API calls on your behalf.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and OAuth tokens for as long as you have an active account. If you wish to delete your data, you can:

  • Revoke Docmaid's access at any time via your Google Account permissions page.
  • Contact us at the email below to request full data deletion from our database.

7. Third-Party Services

  • Google APIs — for authentication and document creation. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Neon — serverless PostgreSQL for data storage. Subject to Neon's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics (optional) — anonymized usage analytics if configured.

8. Children's Privacy

Docmaid is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Docmaid after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
